Brisbane City Council have your free Wifi needs sorted in the CBD, with a public free Wifi network. The council Wifi network also covers popular areas, like King George Square and Chinatown. To connect, find the ‘Brisbane Free Wifi’ network.

If you’re at a park in Brisbane and need free internet, you might have free Wifi right in your park bench. Brisbane City Council has extended the Brisbane Free Wifi network to 22 popular parks and public spaces.

Lots of big shopping centres in Brisbane offer free Wifi. If you’re in the CBD, you’ll find free Wifi at The Myer Centre and Macarthur Central shopping centres.
If you’re further out, Westfield Chermside and Westfield Carindale both offer free Wifi access for shoppers. They allow 1GB or 180 minutes of free access each day by connecting to their Wifi network when you visit.
You’ll also score free Wifi at Northside’s Stafford City Shopping Centre, Indooroopilly Shopping Centre, and Skygate, located out near the domestic and international airports.
Free Wifi in Brisbane Cafes
If you like Wifi with your latte, you’ll find free access in many of Brisbane’s independent cafes. It’s not technically free as you’ll need to purchase something to use it. But it is pretty useful, especially if you’re buying coffee anyway.
Brisbane’s biggest coffee chain is The Coffee Club, which offers free Wifi at most locations. The Coffee Club started in Brisbane, so there’s lots of stores, including several in the CBD itself.
Starbucks isn’t a big brand in Australia, but there are a few stores in Brisbane, and the all offer free Wifi. At other cafes, just ask the barista if there’s free Wifi when you order.
If you need a quick Wifi fix, fast food chains McDonalds, Hungry Jacks, and KFC all offer free Wifi with a purchase.
Wifi friendly public transport
You can connect to free Wifi on some forms of Brisbane public transport.
Queensland Rail offers free Wifi on 64 of its newest trains. If you’re travelling to the airport, the Airtrain also provides free Wifi.
If you’re on the Brisbane River, the entire Citycat fleet is Wifi enabled, but only on the UQConnect and EduRoam networks. You’ll need to be a student to use these.
Free Wifi in Brisbane libraries
Free Wifi is available in Brisbane City Council libraries to visitors with their own Wifi enabled device. Library members can also book a library computer. Brisbane Square Library is the biggest council library, found at the top of the Queen Street Mall.
The State Library of Queensland at Southbank also offers free Wifi. This is available 24/7, with no time limit for access.
