The 24 Best Bakeries in Brisbane

Lune Croissanterie – South Brisbane

The Melbourne-born institution made it’s long-awaited Brisbane debut in 2021 by opening an incredible space at the end of Fish Lane. Anyone who has travelled to one of Lune’s locations in Melbourne is likely familiar with the company’s distinctive croissants, which range from the standard kind (insofar as anything at Lune can be described as standard) to the more unique. Their classic pastry line-up is completed by a range of interesting specials which change constantly. At the time of writing these include a PBJ cruffin, Cherry ripe pain au chocolat and Cheese and Vegemite escargot pastry! Make sure to arrive early because there are always line-ups and things tend to sell out quickly. It’s most definitely worth the wait.

Christian Jacques Artisan Boulanger – Kangaroo Point

Pastry aficionados will definitely need to add this boulangerie in Kangaroo Point to their list. Christian Jacques was raised in the south of France, where he developed a love of baking from an early age. And it really shows. The croissants are made the traditional French way and are slow fermented over two days using premium French butter to produce one of the flakiest croissants this side of the equator. While it’s hard to look past their incredible croissants, be sure to take away a millefeuille for later!

Darvella Patisserie – Bulimba

The Bulimba-based Darvella Patisserie offers hand-crafted cakes, pastries, and hand-picked deli items that are modelled after Europe’s historic patisseries. From it’s beginnings as a lockdown pivot, it developed into a full-fledged patisserie in 2021. It’s a terrific place to indulge in delectable pastries while enjoying a good cup of coffee and a chat. The bakery’s menu features classic croissants, doughnuts, breads, savoury foods, a variety of speciality baby cakes, and delights made with Swiss chocolate. Despite the big outside space, there is very little seating, so you’d be lucky to find a spot in the mornings. Additionally, there is very little street parking available, so plan on walking.

Danny’s Bread – Teneriffe

If you’re familiar with Brisbane’s café scene, you’ve probably noticed that many of the city’s top eateries carry Danny’s Bread. For good reason. There are many options in New Farm/Teneriffe, but we think this one is the best. They make minimal fuss with their storefront, putting all of their effort into creating a top-notch product. By combining organic flour from Gunnedah, salt from the Murray River region, and premium water, Danny’s Bread creates its famous sourdough bread that is pretty close to perfect. The result is a rustic and authentic real sourdough; smoky, cripsy, soft and chewy all at once.

Flour & Chocolate – Morningside and Northgate

Every devoted fan of baked goods rejoiced when Flour & Chocolate established a second (much larger) location in Northgate because a line of pastry seekers frequently snakes out of the patisserie’s Morningside location. People can now get their dose of the artisan breads, cakes, tarts, slices, brownies, sausage rolls, and more from this renowned business. They run out around noon so arrive early.

Le Caprice Patisserie – Bulimba

This charming patisserie is stocked to the brim with sweet pastries, baguettes filled with flavourful contents, delicious hot pies, and some really alluring desserts. You can even ask the crew here to whip up a croquembouche for you if you have an upcoming event where you want to make a good impression. They also do an outstanding pizza. The choices are outstanding and the fabulous service is a stand out!

The flan is amazing, and the canelés are outstanding.
