7 Best Ramen Spots in Brisbane

Slurping Good Times Ahead! Check out Brisbane’s Best Ramen Joints.

If your Instagram feed looks anything like ours, it seems like most of Brisbane is in, or has recently travelled to, Japan. While we can’t get you there – we can lessen the pain by helping you to find some of Brisbane’s very best ramens. Brisbane's ramen scene has exploded in recent years, with a bowl for every taste. From rich and creamy tonkotsu broths to spicy miso creations, there really is something for everyone.

We’ve done our homework and slurped our way through Brisbane’s ramen joints (very much not a hardship!) and narrowed down the list to our top 7 spots. Plus a bonus Sunshine Coast restaurant because we just couldn’t resist. Whether you're a ramen rookie or a seasoned slurper, these are the spots that will transport your tastebuds straight to Japan.

A bowl of deliciousness from Taro’s Ramen in Brisbane CBD

1. Taro's Ramen (Brisbane CBD)

When people talk about the best ramen in Brisbane, Taro’s always comes up. And it’s no wonder why! They have a few branches, but the Queen Street branch in the CBD is our favourite. They're all about using high quality local ingredients and making their noodles fresh daily. The result? Ramen that's pure comfort in a bowl.

GoGet Must-try ramen: Their Fire Tonkotsu Ramen – though stick with the classic if spice isn’t your thing as this packs a real punch!

2. Beppin (Brisbane CBD)

Ramen & Japanese Cakes – what could be better?! Beppin Ramen & Cake in the city is a must-try for any Brisbane ramen lover. Their extensive menu includes 13 different types of ramen – and that’s only looking at the soup ramens. They have ramen bowls and salads too! You’ll find chicken ramen on the menu too which makes a nice change. Just make sure to save room for the Japanese style souffle cheesecake for dessert.

GoGet Must-try ramen: If you are feeling fancy their Waygu Ramen is incredible, though it’s only available after 5.30pm. The creamy Tonkotsu Cashu Ramen is a fantastic all-day option.

3. Ramen Danbo (South Brisbane)

If you like to customize your ramen experience, Ramen Danbo is the place to be. They let you choose everything from the broth's richness to the noodle firmness. Or if that sounds too much like hard work – pick from one of their 8 delicious ramen options. You really can’t go wrong.

GoGet Must-try ramen: The Negi-Goma Ramen – a unique combo of sesame and green onion that's absolutely delicious.

4. Genkotsu Ramen (Toowong)

This used to be a bid of a hidden western suburbs gem – though I think the word is now out that Genkotsu Ramen is worth a visit. Genkotsu's known for its super creamy pork bone broth that's simmered for hours. And their great value for money. Ordering your ramen via the vending machine outside also adds a taste of Tokyo.

GoGet Must-try ramen: Their spicy Karamen ramen on a shoyu (soy) base is hard to look past.

5. Hakataya Ramen (Brisbane CBD)

If you have a craving for authentic Hakata-style ramen? Hakataya's got your back. This place is always buzzing, though you might need to queue at peak times. Luckily the service is always fast so you won’t be waiting long – don’t give up!

GoGet Must-try ramen: The Charsiu – Men, which comes with tender char-siu pork. And if you’re especially hungry – they do free noodle refills.

6. Neon Ramen (Everton Park)

While it’s not the most traditional ramen joint on the list, this quirky anime themed spot is a great spot for a fun night out. The Neon Ramen menu is 100% vegan, the portions are generous and the service is outstanding – what’s not to love? Meat-eaters won’t be disappointed other, some of the plant-based meat alternatives taste just like the real thing. The ramen dishes are all fully customisable, letting you choose exactly what you want. The desserts are also spectacular – don’t leave without trying the cinnamon donut ice-cream sandwich.

GoGet Must-try ramen: The Smoked Duck Alternative Tan Tan Ramen was rich and delicious.

7. Hai Hai (Paddington)

Like Neon Ramen, Hai Hai isn't your traditional ramen joint, but they've definitely earned their place on this list. Slinging ramen out of a renovated old workers cottage in Paddington, Hai Hai put their own spin on things, offering unique ramen creations with bold flavours. Plus if you’re counting your pennies, they do $10 happy hour ramen bowls every Monday and Tuesday evening between 5-6pm.

GoGet Must-try ramen: The Miso Ramen – it's hearty, satisfying, and a little bit different.

Bonus Round: Sunshine Coast Gem

This one isn’t technically in Brisbane, but we just couldn’t leave it off the list. If you find yourself on the Sunny Coast, be sure to check out Umami Ramen in Maroochydore. In fact, even if you don’t find yourself there, it’s worth a drive (and GoGet can help with that!). Umami Ramen is the OG ramen spot in the Sunshine Coast – and for good reason.

GoGet must-try ramen: Their Smokey Black Ramen – Made with homemade black garlic oil and and char-siu pork shoulder, it’s heaven in a bowl.

A Final Note for the Ramen Rookies:

If you're new to ramen, don't be afraid to slurp those noodles! It's the proper way to enjoy them after all. And apparently it helps cools them down so you don't burn your mouth.
