Glass House Mountains National Park
An hour’s drive north of Brisbane will land you in the stunning Glass House Mountains National Park. The 12 jagged peaks are an iconic landmark in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, remnants of volcanic activity from around 25-27 million years ago. There are many ranges perfect for hiking, and taking in the incredible views. It’s also a great spot for wildlife and bird spotting, either in the wild or at Australia Zoo nearby!
Tamborine National Park
Only an hour south of Brisbane, Tamborine National Park is home to the enchanting Curtis Falls, Glow Worm Caves, and the Tamborine Mountain Botanic Gardens. There’s a range of scenery to explore, with trail rides available for those adventurous enough to explore the area on horseback, and hot air balloon rides if you want even more of an adrenaline boost. Lamington National Park
Just over 1.5 hours from Brisbane, the views you will find at Lamington National Park are just as yummy as its name! You’ll find trails through untouched rainforest leading you to gorgeous waterfalls and stunning views. Lamington National Park is also home to Australia’s largest remaining forest of ancient hoop pines! For all nature-lovers, this UNESCO World Heritage listed national park should definitely be on your must visit list.
Springbrook National Park
Right next door to Lamington National Park, Springbrook National Park offers lush rainforests and breathtaking waterfalls for you to discover. Visit the popular Natural Bridge, a basalt bridge and cavern naturally formed at the edge of a waterfall as the rock was eroded by falling water over many years. Enjoy the serene beauty here during the day, and come night time, you can appreciate the glow worms that illuminate the cavern roof.
